Four different writers came together to write a story where plot beats shamble forward arbitrarily along with a bizarre and cartoonishly insensitive border patrol that isn't really explored and is otherwise window dressing. The message of COCO seems to be "don't forget your family" while the skeleton inside's "if you weren't remembered, you may as well have not lived at all."
